"To Triple Wages, to Dismiss Lysyuk"

With this slogan the trade union activists Michail Drughininsky, Yury Yelistratov and Leonid Petrov have gone the whole way from Great Hall "Oktyabrsky" till Dvortsovaya square in common May Day column: of the Movement of civil initiatives (MCI, Russian abbreviate - DGI), of the Committee of unite actions for the defense the social and labour rights of Saint-Petersburg's and Leningrad region's (oblast) civilians and of the RPK. And this slogan shows precisely and clearly how those, who really but not only by words are fighting for the rights of workings, estimate the activity of the top of Saint-Petersburg's and Leningrad oblast's Federation of Trade Unions and personally - misters Lysyuk, Kondratyenkov and similar them.

The passage in May Day column-2004 became the first street procession for the recently founded DGI, and this political debut left the agreeable impression.

Nearly 300 people - the students and trade union activists, the participants of initiative groups of adversaries the so called "condensed building" and of the Association of the territorial public self-management, the communists and anarchists - gathered together to speak out their demands, both social ("No - to the exorbitant rent!", "No - to the condensed building!", "No - to the privatization palaces and cultural memorials!", "Let us keep safe the historical-cultural appearance of the north capital!") and political ("The discharge - to Matviyenko!", "No - to fascism and racism!", "Yes - to local self-management, no - to venal municipalities!").

Beside these slogans, part of which was been written on the placards too, the demands bounded with the necessity of the radical changes in the leadership of the official trade unions of the city and the oblast adopted as the common position of the Committee of Unite Actions still at April, 14, sounded also in sharp small speeches of participants of the column of DGI, CUA and RPK. Their essence is simple and understandable: "Let us transform the trade unions from the social supply agencies into the school of class struggle!" And to stay up on this way it is necessary to do the first steps: to stand the property and finance of the Federation of Trade Unions of SPb and LO under the control of the oblast committees and the primary organizations, to banish the corruptioners from Palace of Labour, to dispatch Garry Lysyuk, guilty in disorganization of the work and in the absence of control the fulfilment of the third-sides agreements, to pension, to form the position of LFTU (Leningrad Federation of Trade unions) on the questions, most significant for the trade unions future (the decrease of number of workers in many big industry plants, the growth of rents and of quarter and transport tariffs, the defense the rights on the safe labour, the observance the labour legislation in whole volume, the rejuvenation the trade union active etc) and to begin to realize it in practical actions. And till the time when these tasks will be solved the following slogan sounded in May Day column will be popular as before: "There is not in trade unions a boss more bad than Lysyuk" (in Russian this slogan sounded in rhyme: "v profsoyuzakh net pok'a bossa khughe Lysyuk'a").

...During the meeting, the speeches on which were toothless and abstract (so the union of trade unions bureaucrats and machinery leaders of "communist movement", so called union of Lysyuk and Tyulkin, is looking in practice), the activists of DGI have acquainted many people who came with May Day columns on Dvortsovaya square (there were at whole 6000 civilians) with documents of Movement, spread the methodic materials to aid to adversaries the "condensed building" and answered on many questions of concerned civilians.
